Gratitude and Love

Today I am filled with gratitude and love for the wonderful kids who have included my kids in this exciting adventure! I have a testimony of my savior Jesus Christ and our loving Heavenly Father who sent him to us. I'm so grateful to be a part of the work that is bringing salvation to so many. It seems like no matter how tired I am in the morning or what else might be on my plate the minute we get the kids in the car I can feel their joy spreading and uplifting me and my children. I wouldn't trade these experiences for any amount of extra sleep. My daughter shared a quote by Elder Uchtdorf with me  that was like a healing balm. It was: "Satin would rather that you define yourself by your sins instead of your divine potential. Don't listen to him." I substituted sins with shortcomings. This last week was one of the most trying weeks for me personally. It seemed like I was being hit on all fronts, and all I could see was what I was not doing well enough. Feelings of worthlessness were piling up. Im grateful for our prophets and the uplifting messages they give us and for the healing balm of the gospel. What better a place to come to understand our divine potential and remember who we are than in the temple progressing the work! I have a testimony in this work. I know that our savior lives and that he came to save us all. I am so grateful for his love, his mercy, and his unwavering virtue. I'm not sure who this gift is for, but per usual whenever we attempt to serve the lord he blesses more than we could ever give.

Time goes on

 I recently re-found this blog, and decided to give an update. Our little group did this challenge for three years, and enjoyed every minute of it. Since then, many of us have served missions, or are on missions. Some of us are off to college, and some are married with kids. Life has gotten busier, and we don't do this every year anymore. However, I hope that our story will inspire others to give a gift to Christ during Christmas time, no matter what it is. Most often, I think he appreciates your heart and your time, however that is given. We lived close to a temple, and decided to chose temple attendance those years, but we will probably have a variety of other choices as the years go on.  I don't mean to say that the temple is less important to us now, I think it still holds a special place in each of our hearts and thoughts. Maleah    I had one thought today come to me and it was, when you wake up in the  morning and the light gets turned on, your eyes hurt. Normally you would put  your hands infront of your eyes so the light would not be so bright. But if you never remove your hand from covering your eyes you will look to the bottom  and take baby steps over and over again. You can't see the lighted path infront  of you, if you slowly remove the hand you will easily adjust quickly to the light  to see the lighted path infront of you.    This reminds me to our goal for this month, with waking up in the morning  and going to the temple it may be difficult but what we can see and do with removing  our hands and going to the temple is amazing. My goal this month:  I want to become closer to christ by serving and going to the temple. I want to learn and have non forgettable memories of this month.

December Challenge Report

Hey, this is Megan, reporting the results of the December Challenge. I was a little busy this month and did not post as much as I wanted to, and did not fully complete my goal. I have made it to 1 Nephi 10. Although I am a little disappointed, our stake just gave us the goal to read the Book of Mormon all of the way through by quest (a youth conference based on Book of Mormon adventures) in June. I take it that Heavenly Father has decided to give me another chance to complete my goal:) Something I have been reading recently is in chapter 8 when Nephi talks about the tree of life. During this chapter I had started reading just a verse or two a day and sometimes would skip ahead and read at random places in that chapter. The last time I had read that chapter, I marked each time groups of people were striving to get to the tree of life.
